What’s a Root Canal? Although many dental patients used to dread the process, it has improved drastically over the years. Interlachen Dental Associates is proud to do Root Canal Treatment quickly and with complete attention to relieving any discomfort.

The root canal is the space in the middle of the roots of your tooth where the nerves and blood supply are. Root Canal Treatment (RCT) may be necessary if a tooth's pulp (nerve and blood supply) become infected or inflamed. A RCT may be the only way to save the tooth without removing it. This process gives the patient a safe and effective way to treat and infected or inflamed tooth.

RCT consists of removing the nerve within the root of the tooth and placing a permanent filling in the canal space. After this treatment has been completed, a permanent filling is usually placed in the tooth to restore it. Often it is necessary to put a crown on this tooth to strengthen it and protect it from fracturing.
