Dr. Gitzen is a lifelong resident of the Twin Cities. He grew up in West St. Paul and attended high school at St. Thomas Academy. He completed his undergraduate work at the University of St. Thomas in biology, where he played on the basketball team and was a four-year starter, captain and MVP. He went on to dental school at the University of Minnesota and graduated in 1986.

After graduation, Dr. Gitzen joined a group dental practice in Bloomington, Minnesota, where he worked from 1986 through 1992. In 1993, he came onboard with Interlachen Dental Associates as an associate and in 2000, he became the owner.

Dr. Gitzen is committed to full-service family dentistry. He works with patients of all ages requiring a vast array of dental care. He keeps up on the latest techniques by attending continuing dental education programs, and takes pride in running a practice that ensures clinical excellence in a comfortable, clean environment.

When Dr. Gitzen is not practicing dentistry, he happily spends time with his family, his wife Lora and three children, Steven, Danielle and Luke. He also enjoys coaching his children’s sports teams, reading, boating, golfing, biking and participating in and watching sporting events.

Dr. Nelson is a lifelong resident of the Twin Cities. He was born in Edina and grew up in Southwest Minneapolis. Dr. Nelson attended high school at Southwest High School. He went on to do his undergraduate work in biology at Colorado College and the University if St. Thomas where he graduated with honors. While in college he played hockey and lacrosse. He also work as a Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul. Dr. Nelson then completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.

Dr. Nelson provides full-service family dentistry, focusing on oral health, function and esthetics His specific areas of interest are cosmetic dentistry, Invisalign Orthodontics, endodontics and oral surgery He keeps up on the latest techniques by frequently attending continuing education on a wide variety of dental disciplines.

When not practicing dentistry, he enjoys playing hockey, roller hockey, softball, golf, boating and relaxing with friends and family.
